Did you know that The Drome Department has more organic producers than any other region of France?
Within the department there are over 520 small producers who have chosen to minimise the impact on the environment by using organic means of production and there is a diverse range of products : cheese, wine, fruit and vegetables, trout, meat, walnuts, cereals and aromatic herbs.
Within walking distance from Velo Vercors you can visit an organic trout farm, a specialist walnut producer and herbalist and jam maker. On bike you can incorporate visits to other producers further a field and taste and buy their products
There are also 5 recognised zones of Appellatin d’Origine Control within the region : Bleu du Vercors - a wonderful blue cheese, Picodon - a delicious goats cheese, Noix de Grenoble - walnuts, Clairette de Die and Chatillon-en-Dios - light, refreshing sparkling wines .
And this year St.Jean-en-Royans hosts the biggest gardener's market of the region on 31st July.
