The Velo Vercors Challenge!
If you want a real cycling challenge set your goal on covering a distance of 500kms with a total of 9000m climbing across 6 days. (Mount Everest stands at 8850m/29,035'). The 6 day cycling itininery will take in some of the most magnificent cliff top roads, gorges and mountain passes in the Vercors including Cols used in the Tour de France.

A Typical Week
- Arriving on Saturday and if there is time a short introductory 1 hour 28km loop followed by dinner.
- On Sunday the real fun begins with a ride into the heart of the Vercors with a 70km ride taking in the famous and spectacular, Combe Lavel Gorge.
- Monday and Tuesday routes ranging from 70-120km along some of quietest, awe-inspiring mountain passes in the Alps.
- The week will build to a crescendo on the Wednesday with a massive 163km /3399m ascension taking in the southern Provencal Drome, including the gruelling 21km switchback Col du Rousset.
- On Thursday a less taxing day with a 60-70km ride.
- Friday sees another big ride followed by a well earned home cooked evening meal washed down with superb Cotes de Rhone wines.
- Saturday departure after breakfast
The scenery on these rides will include waterfalls, lakes, rivers, mediaeval villages and abbeys, walnut groves, orchards and magnificent acqueducts. The Vercors status as a National Park also means there are are tremendous array of fauna and flora to discover including wild boar, peregrine falcons, chamois, wolves( which have been recently re-introduced),deer and wild flowers. Of course there will also be lots of cafe stops!
Book as self-catering or self-catering with accompanied rides and some home cooked evening meals! Simply add 25 Euro pp for each accompanied ride and 30 Euro pp for a 3 course evening meal with wine.
